The Bureau for the Validation of Art will be in attendance on the 19 May between 10-3pm. Artists may present works for Validation and the Bureau will offer the Validation process with supporting dockets and paperwork.

The Bureau, presented by the Women's Art Activation System (WAAS) is a private performance artwork featuring artists Sharon Bennett and Sarah Dixon as Officials from the Bureau. At the Bureau, you have the opportunity to submit work for Validation.

Using a series of preset questionnaires, the officials will make a decision on whether the work presented is Valid as art, and provide an official stamp and docket recording the outcome. Visitors to Site Festival can book a Validation by emailing waas@thewaas.org or visiting EventBrite.

Validations take around 30 minutes and the ticket is £20.  There is also a chance to discuss the notion of Validation and the gatekeepers of art, with the artists after the performance.

The Women’s Art Activation System (WAAS) is an artist collective formed in December 2016 with the aim to support, explore and promote women’s art.

By playfully appropriating models from institutions such as corporate business, government, healthcare, and the military, The WAAS seeks to develop systems for the activation of women’s art that can be applied in many different cultural, temporal and physical settings.
